you claim Jesus but act nothing like him

This week has been extremely exhausting for anyone who cares about events taking place in the world.
As I typed that, I’m thinking about the people in my life who don’t care at all. It’s wild.
One of my friends said he never watches the news and doesn’t get into politics.
It’s puzzling.
Baffling.
I get the temptation to do that, but I also think it demonstrates a crazy amount of privilege.
I struggle sometimes because my goal has always been to make people have a little laugh in the midst of the chaotic overly-religious world in which we live.
I try to find the balance between speaking up for what I believe in while trying to help people cope through humor.
It’s not easy.
This pretty much sums it up, doesn’t it?
I’m not going to get too into all of the Charlie Kirk stuff, but it’s been wild to see people who claim to love Jesus declare war on people for not mourning a man who showed no empathy or compassion for the marginalized.
Isn’t that what Jesus was about? At least a good chunk of what he allegedly said was sticking up for those who are less fortunate.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” - Matthew 25:40
Friends, if you find yourself having a hard time reading what some of your friends, coworkers, or family are posting on social media this week, I totally get it.
Remember: you don’t need a god to be good.
Until next time!
Kevin
I do this to make people laugh, to process religious trauma, and to remind us all we’re not alone in this Christian nationalist hellscape.
If that’s worth a few bucks a month to you, I’d be honored.

Hi. I disagree with you about not following the news on tv. I have tried go a year without watching any MSM and it has been a blessing for me. I am aware of some major issues, but I get my news and analysis from social media. I read and listen to what ordinary people like you have to say. I’m aware all have their biases but that’s okay. It’s just that I no longer trust MSM, and I no longer trust my government or any government at all.
Also, do you think it’s possible to follow Jesus without subscribing to the view he was a god? I’m trying that too.
