Is there anything more insecure than a straight, white, American MAGA Christian?
That’s not rhetorical. I’m seriously wondering that.
As a guy who posts content that’s critical of Christianity… more specifically American Protestantism… more specifically Christian nationalism, my videos often end up on the wrong side of the algorithm.
See, I make videos for my fellow nonbelievers. People who are atheist, agnostic, or deconstructing their faith. Spiritual people are also welcome. Even progressive Christians are welcome.
I make videos to provide some levity in a world that’s incredibly heavy. My hopes are to generate some laughs, make posts that are relatable, and to create some community for those who don’t have it or maybe lost it when they left the church.
I love connecting with likeminded people, however, social media loves to say “Hmm… who would absolutely hate this video?” and then proceed to show it to them.
I get it. We live in an engagement world.
The more people comment on a post, the more it is shown to other people, and that gets you comments like these:

Every comment that I’m going to show you was made in the past week. This is an everyday occurrence for these people. I’ll save the juiciest one for the end.

These people tell me all of the time how Donald Trump and Christianity live rent free in my head.

It’s impossible to NOT think about those things when our President is tweeting about … sorry… Truthing about genocide at 3am and then saying that he’s created an anti Christian bias task force and implies that anyone who isn’t a Christian isn’t a true American.
That’s not rent free.
