Pastor Crypto Scam
We don't live on a planet.
Welcome to Holy Nonsense, where we laugh at religious absurdity!
What a couple of weeks, eh?
Straight-up insanity happening everywhere you look.
Down is up.
Up is down.
Paint on a smile like a fucking clown.
No idea why that popped in my head, but it did…
It’s time for 4-3-2-1!
4 Comments From Christians
Evangelical Christians loooooove a good “gotcha.”
I’m pretty sure that half of the things they spout online are just to try to score points of some kind.
I’ve been an atheist since 2009.
Before that, I was a Christian the entire 26 years of my life.
I talk about Christianity online.
It makes sense, right?
We live in a mostly Christian nation (population-wise, not law-wise).
I can’t count the number of times that I’ve gotten comments like this:
I make this analogy sometimes (I don’t know if it’s a good one or a bad one):
This is like asking a former NFL player (who is now an analyst) why he doesn’t talk about the NBA.
Why would he?
Sure, he might have some opinions on it, but he played football his whole life, is knowledgable about it, spends time around the sport. It wouldn’t make sense for him to talk about the NBA on Good Morning Football.
My platform specifically talks about being an ex-Christian.
Do I hate Islam? Much like Christianity, I respect everyone’s right to believe in whatever god they believe in; I just don’t criticize it much because it doesn’t affect my daily life, and I was never a part of it.
If you’ve been around for a good while, you might have seen this comment before.
I like to break it out every now and then for giggles.
How am I supposed to take you seriously, bro?
Oh, Leo.
Maybe I’ve been entrenched in this for too long, but how can people not understand that Christianity isn’t some harmless belief system?
Not all Christians harm, but theology is often weaponized.
Back up, Tonya. We don’t what?
You can’t nonchalantly go about having a conversation after dropping that bomb!
3 Things You Should Know About
Pastor Crypto Scam
You’ve gotta read this article from Friendly Atheist.
A Colorado pastor and his wife have been banned for 20 years from participating in private securities transactions—including crypto—and ordered to pay back the nearly $3.4 million they stole from more than 300 followers while they ran an illicit cryptocurrency exchange. They still could face lengthy prison sentences.

Altar of Absurdity
I’ve followed Allan aka Altar of Absurdity on TikTok for a LONG time. I’ve always enjoyed his content, but he’s been stepping up his game lately. I really like how he responds to Christians in a kind, yet humorous way.
Atomic Habits
This isn’t religion-related, but I just finally read Atomic Habits by James Clear, and it just might change my life.
I’ve had it downloaded for like 2 years on Audible, but I finally started listening on my daily walks.
One of my favorite quotes from it: “Winners and losers have the same goals.”
It’s easy to say you want something, but do you have a system in place to actually get there?

What’s your favorite book you’ve read this year?
2 Cringe Christian Posts
How do we reason with people who think that some of the members of their congregation are literal demons?
Can you buy a demon detector? Is it like the Gaydar that Dwight got on The Office?
It seems like everyone is selling a course of some kind these days.
Well, I’m not sure if you’re ready for this:
“Have you ever thought about fighting Godzilla with a cross? Boy, have we got the training for you!”
WTF?
It’s capitalism meets mythology meets AI slop.
1 Quote to Make You Think
I read this quote yesterday and thought it was quite powerful!
"The greater the artist, the greater the doubt; perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize."- Robert Hughes
I think this also applies to thinking.
Those who know very little about a subject seem to think they’re experts.
I write this newsletter to make people laugh, to help process religious trauma, and to remind us all we’re not alone in this Christian nationalist hellscape.
If that’s worth a few bucks a month to you, I’d be honored.
$5/month or $50/year → become a supporter
If you want to support my work and help me push back against Christian nationalism, consider upgrading to a paid subscription!
Remember: you don’t need a god to be good.
Until next time!
